The New York Times reports that, as expected, the Justice Department does not plan to charge former Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of Mike Brown. According to unnamed law enforcement officials, “Federal prosecutors have begun work on a legal memo recommending no civil-rights charges against” Wilson, who, as you are probably aware, is not facing any criminal charges for killing the 18-year-old, either. Attorney General Eric Holder has indicated that he’ll release a report explaining the Justice Department’s reasoning once a final decision has been made. Meanwhile, a larger federal investigation into the practices of Ferguson Police Department, which has been accused of racial discrimination and excessive force, is ongoing.
