Secret Service officials recovered a quadcopter drone from the White House grounds early Monday morning, prompting a swift emergency response and a lockdown that lasted until 5 a.m. White House press secretary Josh Earnest tried to allay fears about the incident, saying that the device “does not pose any sort of ongoing threat to anybody at the White House.” President Obama and the First Lady were in India during the incident, though it’s not clear whether the rest of the family — Sasha, Malia, and their grandmother — were still indoors. At least the drone didn’t actually make it into the White House before going down.

Updated, 5:19 p.m.: The owner of the drone came forward to “self-report” the incident, according to the Secret Service. He is believed to be a government employee, and is cooperating with the investigation.
