Kylie Jenner Isn’t the Only Celebrity Who Believes in Chemtrails

Even though they have similar temperments, angsty Tumblr teens and conspiracy theorists are groups that rarely intersect. On Tumblr, teens float stories about how Slenderman wants to kill them or how Zayn left One Direction because he is in love with Liam. Conspiracy theorists, meanwhile, tend to attach to theories that explain inequality: that poverty exists because our world is controlled by reptiles disguised as humans, for example. But on Monday, sentient Bratz doll and World’s Most Influential Teen Kylie Jenner managed to finally bridge the gap.

Jenner tweeted a poorly spelled meme about chemtrails, which she affectionately refers to as “ctrails,” a relatively popular conspiracy theory that posits that the trails of condensation left by high-flying aircrafts are actually made of chemicals that can do everything from poison crops to control the weather.

Of course, the youngest Kardashian isn’t the only celebrity conspiracy theorist. Stay woke, y’all.

Theory: Chemtrails are real.

• Kylie Jenner

• Roseanne Barr

• Billy Corgan

• Prince

Theory: 9/11 was an inside job.

Believing that 9/11 was engineered by the American government is so popular in Hollywood that there’s even an organization called Actors and Artists for 9/11 Truth. Signatories of a petition circulated by that group include:

  • Woody Harrelson
  • Gore Vidal
  • Rosie O’Donnell
  • Willie Nelson
  • Charlie Sheen

Others who have hinted at believing in 9/11 conspiracies include:

  • Marion Cotillard: “She told a television interviewer last year that the September 11 attacks were orchestrated to bring down two buildings that were too expensive to renovate.” Washington Times
  • Mark Ruffalo:

Theory: AIDS is man-made.

  • Kanye West: Kylie isn’t the only member of the Kardashian clan to dip her toe in the conspiracy-theorist pool. Her brother-in-law Kanye shocked concertgoers at Live 8 in 2005 by proclaiming AIDS is a “man-made disease” that was “placed in Africa just like crack was placed in the black community to break up the Black Panthers.”

Theory: The moon landing was staged.

  • Richard Belzer: Law & Order: SVU’s favorite paranoiac Detective Munch is actually a lot like the actor who plays him, Richard Belzer. In 2009, Belzer penned a book called UFOs, JFK & Elvis: Conspiracies You Don’t Have to Be Crazy to Believe, where he says the moon landing is a “hoax” and delves into theories about the assassination of President Kennedy.
  • Marion Cotillard: Again.

Theory: JFK’s assassination didn’t go down the way the government said it did.

  • Bruce Willis: “They still haven’t caught the guy that killed Kennedy. I’ll get killed for saying this, but I’m pretty sure those guys are still in power, in some form. The entire government of the United States was co-opted. One guy did it? I don’t think so.” —Vanity Fair, June 2007
  • Oliver Stone: “I’m amazed there is any single adult left in the USA who would not think that Lee Harvey Oswald was the one and only assassin.”
  • Kevin Costner: “There were a lot of people with no love lost for Kennedy — the CIA, the mob. I believe there was a conspiracy … We’ve lived with the myth of the Warren Commission (which concluded Oswald was a lone assassin) for a long time.”
  • And so many more!
