Fifty-eight-year-old Frank DiPascali died of lung cancer on Thursday, the New York Daily News reports. DiPascali — who served as Madoff Securities’ CFO while Bernie Madoff carried out his years-long, $65 billion Ponzi scheme — testified against five of his former colleagues, which likely has something to do with why they are all now in jail. DiPascali was set to be sentenced for his own role in the fraud on September 10. “He was grateful to have been able to make some amends by helping the government these past few years,” said DiPascali’s lawyer, Marc Mukasey. “Please respect the family’s privacy.”
