It’s a sunny, clear, altogether beautiful Friday — but that does not necessarily make it drone-flying weather. A plane on its way to La Guardia from Washington, D.C. this morning almost crashed into a drone flying above Prospect Park in Brooklyn. The pilot took no chances and ascended 200 feet to avoid crashing into a relatively small airborne robot. The plane landed safely, but the FAA is investigating this near miss, along with overnight incidents in which four planes reported being zapped by laser pointers as they flew over Long Island. So thanks, techies, for adding “pretty dangerous” to the list of reasons why we hate summer travel.
