An anonymous Qatari buyer with more money than sense is planning to spend $250 million on a penthouse in the yet-to-be completed luxury apartment building at 220 Central Park South, according to the Real Deal. If the sale goes though, it would become the most expensive home in New York City, at a full $150 million more than the current record holder. Currently, the city’s most expensive listing is for three Upper East Side townhouses that share a cornice line, which are on the market for $120 million.

The Robert A.M. Stern–designed building is supposed to be completed next year. At 950 feet tall, it will rank as the tenth tallest building in the city. As yet, it’s unclear which of the building’s 118 units would command such a price tag, but the Real Deal speculates it would require the combining of a couple of penthouses. Given the grandeur of a single penthouse, that really seems like overkill.
