In case you did not read to the very last paragraph of this Digiday post on Gawker Media’s business troubles, here’s a potentially huge update on the future of the company, straight from founder/CEO Nick Denton:

In light of the controversial post scandal, Denton returns to the subject of the flagship site, which he said will “reboot” on Monday with a focus on ensuring stories are not just titillating but newsworthy. Denton also made room for the possibility of changing the company name.

We have an awesome portfolio,” he said. “We produce a lot of drama. And sometimes, we become the story. We don’t want Gawker.com to be limited by the needs of the company. And there is a strong argument for a company name that is not the same as Gawker.com.”

Apparently people love reboots, so this is probably a smart move. We can’t wait to see which Gawker blogger Chris Pratt will play.

Capital New York reported on a meeting Denton held with staffers on Thursday about the big changes ahead.

The company is moving into a new office building on Monday too, and Denton said that those uninterested in the “new look, 10 percent nicer taste” could get a full severance package if they quit instead of relocating. When asked by a staffer who his dream editor for the site would be, he replied, Ta-Nehisi Coates.
