Martin O’Malley Fooled by Satirical Website That Keeps Fooling People

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley learned the hard way that the Daily Currant’s stories are fake after he referenced the site in a white paper released today. Eagle-eyed Bloomberg Politics reporter Phil Mattingly caught the citation in O’Malley’s ten-page Wall Street paper. It linked to a story saying Eric Holder had a new $77 million job with J.P. Morgan. The third sentence also said the former attorney general would “fetch morning coffee and breakfast orders for CEO Jamie Dimon.”

Deputy campaign manager Lis Smith downplayed the mistake, tweeting, “We’re not the first — nor last — campaign to drop a comprehensive policy paper with an errant footnote!” They’re not the first to fall for the Daily Currant’s trickery, either.
