The Best Social Media Images From Pope Francis’s Procession Through Central Park

By

After visiting a Catholic elementary school in East Harlem, Pope Francis rode through Central Park in his Popemobile this afternoon in a procession that was expected to draw some 80,000 people. Here, the best images snapped by onlookers in the crowd (and a couple from pros with a better vantage point).

People who’d won the lottery for tickets waited in long lines to enter Central Park:

Some in line hoped for blessings not just for themselves, but for their favorite baseball team:

A rainbow appeared over the park prior to Francis’s arrival:

Some took photos of (or selfies with) a cardboard cutout before the pope arrived in person:

After all that waiting, onlookers had just a few seconds to snap a photo:

He's just so happy & so friggin cute! 💛⛪ #eternalblessings #papalvisit #centralpark #NYC #PopeinNYC #mistakesweremade #personalspace
