A pair of knuckleheaded NYPD officers managed to make a splash in two separate, but fantastical screw-ups in the Bronx and Queens on Monday.
One of the two officers to be cuffed within a 12-hour span was an off-duty traffic cop who attempted to forcefully evict a family subletting her Queens apartment. The 31-year-old officer, Shanna Hamilton, was looking to party at her 98th Street property — despite the fact that it was occupied by a couple and their one-year-old child. Hamilton and her fellow would-be partiers allegedly harassed the couple by threatening to throw renter Jonathan Fortuna off the balcony, as well as throwing lit cigarettes at him.
Hamilton managed to drive out the couple and promptly changed the locks to the apartment. As one does while being illegally evicted, the 26-year-old Fortuna quickly called the police — the traffic cop’s primary employer. Hamilton managed to wiggle her way out of the NYPD encounter, claiming she was the true victim. After proceeding to put on a party soundtrack, at top volume, the NYPD re-arrived on the scene, quickly realizing they had been duped by one of their own. Hamilton was subsequently charged with unlawful eviction and harassment.
But the day’s top cop flop goes to the pantsless transit cop arrested outside of PS 134 in the Bronx early Monday morning. Officer Wayne Roach, a transit cop sitting in the half-nude, was first noticed by the elementary school’s safety agent. When the agent approached Roach, he noticed that not only was the nine-year department veteran intoxicated, keys in ignition, but his penis was also exposed. Roach now faces charges of public lewdness and driving under the influence.
