On The Tonight Show last night, Jimmy Fallon pointed out that his guest, Bernie Sanders, or Donald Trump could be the first president from New York since FDR — who hasn’t been getting the most flattering posthumous press lately, thanks to the Republican front-runner’s plan to ban all Muslims from coming to the U.S.
Sanders said he relished the opportunity to beat Trump in an election. “Throughout history, you’ve had demagogues trying to divert attention away from the real issues,” he said. “And what someone like Trump is trying to do is divide us up. A few months ago, we were supposed to hate Mexicans that he thinks are all criminals and rapists. Now we are supposed to hate Muslims. And that kind of crap is not going to work in the United States of America.”
Later in the show, Sanders played the Whisper Challenge and showed how months of hearing supporters scream “Feel the Bern” at rallies makes you a very good lip-reader.
