The Suicide Rate for Farmers Has Been Horrific for Decades, and Nobody’s Doing Anything About It

It’s been more than three decades since the height of the farm crisis in 1980, when historically high farm debts meant that farmer suicides were at an all-time high. But not much has changed. A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that farmers, fishers, and foresters collectively have the highest suicide rate of any profession.
