Paul Ryan easily defeated primary challenger Paul Nehlen on Tuesday night — and as the icing on the cake, his opponent may have broken state law by tweeting out a photo of his ballot.

Few believed that Ryan had any cause for concern, though for months Sarah Palin and conservative writers Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter have talked of “Cantoring” him. The race will go down in history, though, as part of Donald Trump’s disastrous post-conventions week. The Republican nominee outraged many in his party by praising Nehlen and holding off on endorsing Ryan, though he eventually issued a forced statement backing the House speaker.

I’m humbled and honored that Wisconsinites in the First Congressional District support my efforts to keep fighting on their behalf,” Ryan said in a statement. Hopefully Ryan will take a few minutes to celebrate before he starts working on a response to his nominee’s suggestion that the nominee’s opponent be assassinated.
