At a Los Angeles auction this weekend that featured works from Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, a buyer paid $22,000 for a Naked Donald Trump statue. The anonymous art collective INDECLINE made multiple copies of the sculpture, formally entitled The Emperor Has No Balls, and installed them in different cities this August, including in New York City’s Union Square, where it stood for two hours before the Parks Department hauled it away.

The identity of the person who will now have to own this artwork, or possibly make space for it in the basement, is unknown, though a portion of the proceeds from Naked Trump’s sale will go to the National Immigration Forum, an advocacy group.

Meanwhile, Naked Hillary Clinton (and its bonus “big banker”) reappeared Monday in Union Square, less than a week after sparking a brawl in the Financial District. A spokesperson for the five artists who created the Naked Hillary (The Empress Has No Shame, c. 2016) told Gothamist that the creators are of all political persuasions and that the statue wasn’t made to shame women, but “to show … people they have a double-standard.” The reincarnated Naked Hillary lacks hands, apparently damaged in last week’s scuffle, but that’s now symbolic of Republicans’ belief of her “inability to get things done.” But this time Naked Hillary managed to survive, and no one tried to tear it down, probably because everyone has had enough already.
