A banner bearing the image of Vladimir Putin was unfurled on the Manhattan Bridge just before 2 p.m. this afternoon. No one is quite sure who is responsible for the banner, which showed Putin standing in front of the Russian flag with the word Peacemaker inscribed on the bottom. A witness told the New York Post that it was hung by “two guys” and Gothamist points out the similarities to a 2014 pop-up shop that sold Putin gear also inscribed with the word “Peacemaker.” The banner flapped in the wind for just over an hour, when it was removed by police, who presumably returned it to its rightful place in Trump Tower.
