The Rangers begin their preseason schedule at the Garden tonight against Boston, and their talented-but-injury-prone off-season acquisition is already hurt. Gaborik, who’s failed to play more than 65 games in four of the past five seasons, stressed that it’s not serious and is unrelated to his two hip surgeries. (He called it “a little tightness, soreness” in his groin.) But he couldn’t scrimmage yesterday, and like most veterans, won’t play tonight. Yeah, this might be a long season. [NYDN]
