The sad tale of Dwight Gooden has taken yet another bad turn: The Mets phenom and legend was arrested at 8 a.m. yesterday and charged with a DWI in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, as first reported by Deadspin. According to police, his child was in the vehicle with him. He was actually charged with "Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs, DWI with a Child Passenger, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Reckless Driving, Failure to Keep Right and Failure to Notify Change of Address regarding driver's license." The Mets offered Gooden a job as an adviser in February, but he turned them down, saying he wanted to stay with his pregnant wife.
