Are You Interested in Baseball, Crocheting, and Setting World Records?

Then June 5 is your lucky day: A program called Stitch N’ Pitch will attempt to set the Guinness World Record for “Most People Crocheting Simultaneously” during that afternoon’s Mets-Marlins game at Citi Field. Crocheting and watching baseball is apparently more popular than we thought — which is to say, we didn’t know it was a thing at all — because according to its website, the group organizing the attempt held events at 23 of the 30 Major League parks last year, and a PDF of instructions for the big day says they’re expecting about 500 participants. Laugh if you want, but it’ll look a lot less ridiculous than this. [Stitch N’ Pitch via Darren Rovell/Twitter]
