The Week the Jets Beat the Patriots

You didn’t dream that on Sunday: The Jets really did go into Foxboro and beat the Patriots to earn a trip to the AFC Championship Game. More specifically, they earned a trip to Pittsburgh (where they won back in Week 15) to play the Steelers (who have the support of the entire Namath family except for Broadway Joe). Unlike last week, the Jets didn’t do much trash-talking over the past few days. But just like last week, Will’s PS3 — which clearly has no respect for the Jets — has picked them to lose. On Sunday, Mark Sanchez will finally be the key to victory — one that would send the Jets to the Super Bowl. But what happened this week that didn’t involve horses that share names with football coaches?

Carmelo Anthony remains a member of the Denver Nuggets, and Mikhail Prokhorov announced the Nets were walking away from the trade talks.

St. John’s defeated another ranked team.

The Knicks dropped games to Phoenix and Houston to extend their losing streak to four games. Amar’e Stoudemire remained atop our Knicks Power Rankings.

The banged-up Rangers lost to Philly and Carolina. In between, Marian Gaborik scored four times in a rout of Toronto.

Brian Cashman said that he told Andy Pettitte not to “Brett Favre” the Yankees, then admitted that he wasn’t in favor of the Rafael Soriano signing.

And we spoke to Brendan Shanahan about the NHL All-Star Game’s Fantasy Draft.

That’s it for us. We’ll be back after the game Sunday, then return again on Monday morning. Have a nice weekend, and enjoy the game.
