The Week Pitchers and Catchers Reported

Though the weather in New York today could convince you otherwise, spring isn’t quite here yet. But the arrival of pitchers and catchers in Florida this week did mark the beginning of Spring Training. In Tampa, CC Sabathia reported to camp lighter, while Joba Chamberlain reported heavier, leading one reporter to wonder whether the the Yankees were merely fat, or historically fat. Also: The team might be interested in Kevin Millwood. Meanwhile, down in Port St. Lucie, Oliver Perez showed up to camp early (but was locked out when he arrived), and Sandy Alderson gave everyone an update on when we might see Johan Santana pitch again. But what happened this week that didn’t involve Speedos worn over jeans?

The Carmelo Watch continued with another trade scenario, more Isiah fears, the Nets’ return to the talks, potential owner involvement, and reports of a tentative trade that would send Anthony to Newark — one that hinges on whether he’ll sign an extension with New Jersey.

St. John’s padded their résumé with road wins at Cincinnati and Marquette, and we looked at their projected Tournament seedings.

The Knicks headed into the All-Star break with a win over Atlanta, while Amar’e Stoudemire once again topped our Knicks Power Rankings, and Landy Fields once again went viral.

The Rangers hung on to beat the Kings.

And Donald Trump expressed interest in buying the Mets, as did some Mets fans.

That’s it for us. Have a nice weekend.
