The Yankees’ Rotation Is Thinner Than Last Year, and Apparently So Is CC Sabathia

CC Sabathia was listed at 309 pounds last year, enough to earn him the title of baseball's heaviest player. But a source tells Buster Olney that Sabathia's shed 30 pounds from his six-foot-seven frame during off-season workouts. (The Times confirmed with a baseball official that Sabathia has lost weight but couldn't confirm exactly how much. Perhaps a Biggest Loser–style public weigh-in at spring training should be in order.) In any case, losing weight means less pressure on Sabathia's right knee, which required surgery after the postseason to correct a small meniscus tear. [ESPN New York, Bats/NYT]
