So, we know we’re the only ones paying attention to the Gold Cup right now, but it’s starting to get fun. The United States beat Jamaica 2–0 yesterday to advance to the semifinals. The U.S. dominated throughout, particularly impressive when you consider that Landon Donovan was benched most of the game because he’d spent the weekend at his sister’s wedding and didn’t show up until 7 a.m. day of game. (This makes us think that we’re taking the Gold Cup more seriously than Landon Donovan.) The United States advanced to play Panama, who beat the U.S. in the Group Stage, this Wednesday in Houston at 7 p.m. ET. The winner of that will play the winner of Mexico-Honduras in the championship Saturday at the Rose Bowl. (The winner of that advances to the 2013 Confederations Cup.) And to keep you sated, right after that game, the Women’s World Cup begins. Don’t worry: After that, you don’t have to watch international soccer (or hear us talk about it) until next year.
