Minor League Team’s Bus Crash on Staten Island Could Have Been a Whole Lot Worse

The Williamsport Crosscutters beat the Cyclones at MCU Park last night, and after the game, the team was on its way back to a Holiday Inn in Brooklyn when their bus driver apparently got lost and took them over the Verrazano Bridge. But on the way back to Brooklyn, the bus collided with an SUV and crashed into the guardrail of an overpass above the Staten Island Expressway, leaving the bus partially hanging over the overpass’s edge. (The Staten Island Advance has a photo of the aftermath.) Thankfully, though, the bus didn’t fall. Said a man at the scene to the paper: “Two more feet to the left and it would have fallen down onto the Expressway.” According to the Post, two Crosscutters players and a coach were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and released.
