Nobody’s Bid on the Bill Buckner Ball Yet [Updated]

“It gets through Buckner!”

The baseball that rolled between Bill Buckner’s legs exactly 25 years ago tomorrow is up for auction on eBay this week, but no one has yet put in the opening bid of $1 million. You may recall that Charlie Sheen paid more than $93,000 for the ball in 1992. Then in 2000, songwriter Seth Swirsky purchased it at auction for $64,000. (Fun fact: The underbidder in both of those auctions was Keith Olbermann.*) The auction ends tomorrow night at 11:37 p.m. Eastern time — 25 years to the minute of Buckner’s error. *Update: Olbermann says, via Twitter, that he wasn’t the underbidder either time, as was reported in the AP article linked above.
