The Big East is still trying to figure out exactly how it’ll respond to the losses of Syracuse and Pittsburgh, but the conference is reportedly considering adding Boise State as a football-only member. Not that the Big East cares much about geography anymore — it already has schools in Chicago and Milwaukee, after all — but at some point, they’re going to have to change the name of the conference, right? Navy and (Colorado-based) Air Force are also being considered as football-only members. And those of us far more interested in Big East hoops than Big East football should know that the conference is also considering Temple, Central Florida, and East Carolina as members in all sports. There’s more, too: If Louisville winds up in the Big 12, then the conference could also invite SMU and Houston. [ESPN, NYP]
