Ann Mara Broke Her Shoulder, But Is ‘Probable’ for Super Bowl XLV
There might be some debate over who the star of Sunday's NFC Championship Game was, but there's little doubt who the star of the post-game ceremony was: Ann Mara, the mother of Giants co-owner John Mara and widow of former owner Wellington Mara. After the trophy presentation, Ann scolded Terry Bradshaw, poking her finger at the Fox analyst and telling him, "You never pick the Giants!" Said Eli Manning earlier this week: "I like her attitude."
But while attending mass back in New Jersey the next day, the 82-year-old Mara fell and broke her shoulder as she was returning to her seat after receiving communion, according to a team spokesperson. The News reports that she's currently at home recovering, but her shoulder won't necessarily prevent her from attending Super Bowl XLVI. John Mara, putting her status in football-injury terms, told ESPN she's "probable" for the Giants-Patriots game on February 5. Get well soon, Ann!
