At Long Last, Walt Frazier Has Joined Twitter
Twitter, that deeply engrossing trading post of links, quips, and pictures of food, has always seemed incomplete without the presence of Walt "Clyde" Frazier. The Knicks legend and beloved color commentator is an avid dispenser of quotable hilarity, be it in the form of his signature rhyming pairs ("resounding rebounding", "swooping and hooping"), flowery phrases for simple concepts ("precocious neophyte"), mispronunciations ("Chris Barsh"), or just his delightful "ha-HA!" when he's impressed with something. As wonderful a match as it appeared to be, Clyde on Twitter never seemed plausible, both because he's relatively introverted when off the air, and because he's just way too cool to own a smartphone.
But the folks at MSG were determined, and after some pestering from his associate Jill Martin, Clyde acquiesced and opened an account yesterday. Less than 24 hours later, he's amassed almost 7,000 followers. As of yet, there's been no rhyming — just a few retweets and a sartorial update — but it's safe to assume that there will be rhymes ahead. Oh, and as for his follows, it appears to be just MSG co-workers and members of the Knicks so far. No furriers, tanners, or alligator breeders just yet.
In any event, this is easily the most positive thing to happen to Knicks fans recently, so please just let us enjoy this.
