Wagner’s New Head Coach Is the Youngest in Division I

The NCAA Tournament field has been whittled down to just four teams — the "Final Four," as the kids call them — and with the end of the season comes the annual spin of the college-coaching carousel. And this year, it's affected one of our local NEC teams: Wagner coach Dan Hurley, coming off a 25-6 that ended with a loss to Robert Morris in the conference tournament semifinals, left the school last week for Rhode Island. And now Wagner has his replacement: They've chosen assistant coach Bashir Mason to take over the program. At 28, Mason becomes the youngest Division I head coach in the country. (That said, he's not quite as young as the ESPN.com bio page from his playing days at Drexel — link here, screenshot here — would lead you to believe. Which is good; 8-year-olds tend not to make the best head coaches.)
