Jim Romenesko has a neat item today about Tim Rohan, a New York Times summer intern and recent graduate of the University of Michigan who wound up covering Johan Santana's no-hitter for the paper on Friday night. Rohan, who was hired for the internship in December and says he'd written a dozen or so stories for the paper between January and the official start of his internship last week, had bugged (his word) a Times sports editor for an assignment earlier in the week. From Romenesko: "I said, 'What do you need? What do you have for me?' He said, 'I happen to have the Mets open on Friday.' I said 'I’m on it.'" The rest, as they say, is history.
