The NHL Cancels the Rest of Its Preseason Games, Including the One at Barclays Center

Barclays Center the new home to NBA's Brooklyn Nets is set to open next week in Downtown Brooklyn, in New York, Friday September 21, 2012. The stadium was financed by developer Bruce Ratner, hip hop artist Jay Z, and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov.

As expected, the NHL has canceled the remainder of its preseason schedule as its lockout heads toward the two-week mark. Among the games canceled is the one between the Islanders and Devils that had been scheduled for next Tuesday at Barclays Center. It would have been the first sporting event at the arena and would have given folks a chance to see the building's funky hockey configuration in person. But, alas. At least the Globetrotters never get locked out.
