News trickled out after the Jets' week one win that the inadvertent kick to the head Darrelle Revis had received wasn't totally harmless. He was eventually diagnosed with a "mild concussion" — a label that sounds alarms in today's NFL, and one that kept him out and hampered the Jets against the Steelers last week. Good news: Revis is on track to return this Sunday.
Revis and Rex Ryan aren't on exactly the same page about this: Ryan is understandably hesitant to confirm anything and continues to defer to team doctors, while Revis had the following to say:
“I’ll be playing Sunday.”
Unambiguous. Now, this is coming from a guy who just wants to play and who made every effort to avoid wearing the red jersey in practice yesterday, but he's probably right. Doctors cleared Revis for full contact today, and barring a setback, he should be good to go in Miami, where he'll have the opportunity to introduce himself to young Ryan Tannehill. By "introduce," I mean they'll talk about double consonants and stuff, but there's also a decent chance Revis intercepts some of Tannehill's passes. I can pretty much guarantee that he'll try.
