So Rex Ryan made it official today: Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes will miss the rest of the season, leaving the Jets, essentially, with zero offensive weapons. This now leaves them with three wide receivers currently healthy and on the roster, none of them very good, which would be a bigger deal if they had anyone who could throw to them. They don't, so it's possible no one will notice.
Fortunately, everything's cool on the defensive end, right? Well, yesterday, 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers said that he was shocked "to see that them guys were really just ready to get in the shower" and "They don't want to tackle, they don't want to do this, they don't want to do that." That's to say: The Jets quit.
Now, words like quit get thrown around a lot, and it's worth noting that when one is down 34–0 late in the fourth quarter, one tends to just be ready for the damn game to be over already. But it's not helping the Jets look like anything other than an organization coming apart at the seams, a truck careening off the cliff. It's pretty much the worst possible time to be hosting the best team in the NFL.
The good news is that Tim Tebow will be starting soon and everything will be fixed then. What a story that shall be!
