Whoa: The Islanders Will Reportedly Move to Brooklyn

John Tavares #91 of the New York Islanders skates against the New Jersey Devils at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on March 10, 2012 in Uniondale, New York. The Devils defeated the Islanders 2-1.

Both the Post and The Wall Street Journal are reporting that the Islanders will be moving to Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Neither paper gave a timeline for when it would happen in their initial news bulletins, but the Isles' lease at the Nassau Coliseum expires in 2015. The Islanders and Barclays Center have scheduled a press conference for 1 p.m. today to make a "major announcement," and the guest list would suggest there is indeed big news coming: Mayor Bloomberg and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman are both set to attend, as are Barclays Center majority owner Bruce Ratner, Nets CEO Brett Yormark, Islanders owner Charles Wang, Isles GM Garth Snow, and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. We'll have much more on this later today once we have more details.
