A-Rod Is Batting Fifth Tonight, and Derek Jeter Is the DH

Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez

Joe Girardi has unveiled his lineup for Game 4 of the ALDS, and it includes a couple things of note: First, Derek Jeter, who left last night's game because of an injured foot, is set to DH and lead off tonight. (Via the LoHud Yankees Blog, Jeter will take batting practice, and Girardi says he'll serve as the DH if he says he's okay. Gee, we wonder if he'll say he's okay.) And Alex Rodriguez, for the first time in the series, has been taken out of the No. 3 spot in the order: He'll bat fifth, after Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano. Raul Ibanez, last night's hero, won't start, though with lefty Joe Saunders on the mound for Baltimore, he was unlikely to be in the lineup tonight even if the DH spot wasn't being occupied by Jeter.

Here's the full lineup:

1. Derek Jeter (DH)
2. Ichiro Suzuki (LF)
3. Mark Teixeira (1B)
4. Robinson Cano (2B)
5. Alex Rodriguez (3B)
6. Nick Swisher (RF)
7. Russell Martin (C)
8. Curtis Granderson (CF)
9. Jayson Nix (SS)

Willie Randolph's ceremonial first pitch is set for 7:29. Phil Hughes's first actual pitch is set for 7:37.
