Madison Square Garden Will Host the 2014 NCAA East Regional
So this is pretty cool: Madison Square Garden will host the East Regional of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. There'd been talk a while back about the arena getting it for the 2012-13 season, but a former NCAA executive said last spring that they wanted to give the Garden a chance to finish its renovation project before awarding it a Regional. It's not like the metropolitan area doesn't host these from time to time — it was held at the Prudential Center in Newark in 2011 — but the Garden hasn't hosted NCAA Tournament games in any round since 1961. That'll be a big couple of months for the area: The games take place on March 28 and 30, 2014, less than two months after MetLife Stadium hosts Super Bowl XLVIII.
