What is a New York Digital Subscription? What do I get when I subscribe?

A digital subscription to New York offers unlimited access to coverage online at nymag.com, which includes digitally exclusive content from the Intelligencer, the Cut, Vulture, and Grub Street. You’ll also have access to our full digital archive and New York app.

How much does it cost?

A digital subscription to New York costs $5 a month, and will automatically renew every 30 days until you cancel your subscription. Your first 30 days are free, and you can cancel at any time.

I already subscribe to New York magazine. Do I have free digital access?

Yes, all subscribers receiving New York in print are entitled to full digital access on nymag.com.

To begin your digital access, visit nymag.com/account and locate your existing account by submitting your home delivery address or account number. Your account number is located on the mailing label of your print issue of the magazine. On the bottom right hand corner of the label is a 16 digit string, and your account number is the last 10 digits minus the very last digit.

What is the cancellation and refund policy? How can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription anytime at nymag.com under the “My Account” page. Select the “Cancel my subscription” prompt on the left hand navigation bar and continue.

How do I link my account with my digital access on the site?
•Visit nymag.com/account, located in the upper right hand corner of the nymag.com homepage.
• Select “Log in” to access your account details. If you’ve not done so, select “Sign Up” to activate your digital login.
• To link your subscription, you may need to input your 9 digit account ID or mailing address on your Profile.

I forgot my password. How can I log back into nymag.com?
• Visit nymag.com/account click “Log In / Create Account”
• Within the login window, click “Don’t remember your password?”
• You will see a Reset Password prompt; enter your email and click “Send Email”
• Check your email (or spam) account and follow the prompts to reset your password online.

How do I change my password?

Print Subscription

What is a New York Digital + Print subscription? What do I get when I subscribe?
When you subscribe to New York on our print + digital subscription plan, you’ll receive the magazine to your home in addition to having unlimited access online at nymag.com and through the IOS app. New York publishes 26 issues a year. You’ll have immediate access online, and your first issue will arrive in 4-6 weeks.

How much does Digital + Print?
Our digital and print subscription offer is $70, charged once annually. We will renew your subscription annually until your cancel your subscription.

How do I subscribe to Print + Digital?
Visit nymag.com/subscribe to choose a plan and set up your account.

When will my magazine arrive?
Subscribers in the NY Metro area can expect their magazine biweekly. Outside the NY Metro area, delivery may experience delays depending on postal service handling.

Issues are the be delivered during the week of publication, from Tuesday-Monday. If your issue arrives later, please call our MagsExpress line at 1-800-738-3003 or newyorkmag@MagsExpress.com and we will mail a replacement copy to you within 48 hours.

Can I hold my magazine delivery if I am out of town?
Print subscribers can pause or reschedule their delivery by contacting our customer service department nymag@emailcustomerservice.com.

You can cancel your subscription anytime at nymag.com under the “My Account” page by following the prompts through “Cancel my subscription” on the left side navigation bar. You’ll be prompted to message our customer service of your request, and your account will be cancelled.

NY Mag Apps

How do I login to the app as a first time user?
If you’ve previously subscribed to Digital All Access or synced you existing subscription to New York with digital access, just download the app from the App Store (for free) and follow these steps:

• Tap Account on the app’s home screen.
• Tap Login or Create Account to log into your New York digital login.
• You will see a pop-up asking you to agree to sign-in to your digital account; “NYMag App” Wants to Use “auth0.com” to Sign In.” Please tap “Continue” to proceed.
• If you have logged in previously on web or the app, you may login via Facebook, Google or your email and password.

What do I do if the app is not recognizing my digital login?

• If we cannot find your digital login or you do not have an existing login, you must use the “Sign Up” option on this screen. This means you have an account, but might not have linked your digital entitlements.
• Enter your email, a username and a password. Your password must be at least 8 characters in length and contain at least 3 of the following 4 types of characters; lower case (a-z), upper case (A-Z), numbers (i.e. 0-9), or special characters (e.g. !@#$%^&*)
• Upon successful login and subscription link you will see a screen confirming your active subscription.
• If you delete or update the app, you may be required to sign in again with your email and password, but you do NOT need to re-activate.

In the unlikely event that we cannot match your login email with an existing subscription, you may still link your digital login to your subscription via your subscription Account Number or Mailing Address, using the information from your magazine label or your purchase confirmation email. We suggest linking your account online before using your account details to log into the app.

How do I activate my digital access in the app?
• After logging into your digital login or creating a digital login, you will see a message telling you to activate digital access to magazine issues.
• Tap the Activate button.
• Note: for your security you will need to login again to your digital account. Tap the black “Log In” button.
• After logging in here, you will see your digital profile. Here you may link your subscription through “Use my account number” or “Use my mailing address.”
• Fill out the account number or mailing address screens. Your account number is the first 9 digits of the number that appears on your label. If you are using your mailing address, be sure it matches the one on your label.

How do I create or reset the password for subscriptions purchased directly from NYMag or nymag.com?
To create a new password or reset an old one, go to the Log In or Activate  screen by tapping Account or Manage Account on the app’s home screen. Then follow these steps:

• Tap Login or Create Account.
• Tap the Forgot Password link at the bottom of this screen.
• Fill in your email address twice, and hit Submit.
• Check your email (or spam) account for an email from New YorkNYM Customer Service.
• Tap the Reset Password link.
• On the next screen, enter your own password in the New Password and Confirm New Password fields. Your password must be at least 8 characters in length and contain at least 3 of the following 4 types of characters – lower case (a-z), upper case (A-Z), numbers (i.e. 0-9), or special characters (e.g. !@#$%^&*).
• Hit Submit.
• Go to your iPhone, reopen the app, and return again to the Sign In screen Enter your email address + the new password you’ve just created to sign in.

How do I navigate the app?
The app homescreen allows you to toggle between issues of New York Magazine and digital-first stories from nymag.com, including Intelligencer, the Cut, Vulture, Grub Street. You’ll also find prompts to subscribe, activate, sign in and manage your digital account under the “Manage Account” and “Subscribe” options through the hamburger icon in the upper left corner of the homescreen.

Tap “MAGAZINE” to purchase issues of New York in the Store or view issues you’ve purchased in the library. To open an issue, tap “Download” and then “Read.” Swipe vertically to read full articles, and swipe horizontally to turn the page. Tap the screen once to prompt a thumbnail view of the full issue and the Magazine navigation bar.

Tap “NEWS” to access the news feed, and tap any headline to open the full story. Swipe vertically within a story and horizontally to browse between articles. To share stories, return to the feed or homescreen, use the navigation bar at the top of the article page.

Logging into nymag.com with your Itunes subscription:
You may now link iTunes subscriptions to New York digital accounts, giving you unlimited access to New York sites, including the Cut, Vulture, Intelligencer, and Grub Street. For new or previous subscriptions to be recognized on your device, you must be signed in to your iPhone’s Settings with the original Apple ID used for the subscription purchase. The app must also be downloaded from the App Store under this original ID.

• Go to your device’s Settings. Tap iTunes & App Store and then the Apple ID up top, and check that you’re signed in with the same Apple ID. If not, sign out and re-sign in with your previous credentials.
• Then launch the App Store app, search for New York Magazine, and download the app. (If you previously downloaded the app using a different Apple ID, you’ll need to delete it and redownload under the correct ID.) When the App Store prompts you for an Apple ID and password, again use the same Apple ID and password.
• After downloading and opening the NYM app, tap Manage Account on the app’s menu, where you should see information about your iTunes Subscription including when it expires and auto-renews.
• Tap “Activate Digital Access” to activate unlimited access to New York digital sites, including the Cut, Vulture, Intelligencer, and Grub Street.
• You will see a pop-up asking you to agree to sign-in to your digital account, “NYMag App” Wants to Use “auth0.com” to Sign In.” Please tap “Continue” to proceed.
• If you have logged in previously on web or the app, you may login via Facebook, Google or your email and password.
• If we cannot find your digital login or you do not have an existing login, you must use the “Sign Up” option on this screen.
• Here you will enter your email, a username and a password. Your password must be at least 8 characters in length and contain at least 3 of the following 4 types of characters – lower case (a-z), upper case (A-Z), numbers (i.e. 0-9), or special characters (e.g. !@#$%^&*)
• Upon successful login and subscription link you will see a screen confirming your active subscription.
• Return to the app’s menu and tap Magazine. Your subscription should be restored, and all issues of your subscription that have been published should be ready to download and read. New issues will enter the Library as they become available.

I’m trying to sign in with my email and password to access a subscription purchased directly from New York Magazine, but it keeps failing.
Be sure you are signing in with the same email that’s associated with your New York Magazine print or digital-only account. If you’re still having a problem, try resetting your password by following the steps outlined above. If you still encounter issues, email us at nymag-app@nymag.com.
