So what are you wearing, head to toe?
Today I'm wearing a Tracy Reese coat from this past fall season. Charles David boots from the Beverly Center in L.A. And my husband's socks, 'cause I love wearing his socks.
Is that, like, a love thing or a comfort thing?
It's the thing I do to bring him closer to me...
Closer to your feet?
Closer to my feet when I'm on vacation. Bowing at my feet [laughs]. And then I have on a Max Mara skirt and a Michelle Mason blouse.
What is the fascination with Tracy Reese?
Because she is a designer for someone with my style and my age and my income. That is, something you can wear every day and it still looks fresh and fabulous.
Fashion has finally caught up with the idea of appropriateness for women.
You want it to be feminine yet wearable and affordable.
What's affordable?
Under $1,000.
The whole outfit or a piece?
A coat, around $600. Then a Club Monaco shirt and skirt and I'm set.
What's the difference between shopping in New York and L.A.?
It's like apples to oranges.
L.A. is more feminine.
It's all about casual. It also has a lot to do with the weather. I'll go to work in cargo pants and a James Perse shirt, something I could never do here. And flip-flops.
And your favorite places to shop?
In L.A., I love Blue on La Brea. Curve on Robertson. Those are my two favorite places.
