You remind me of someone out of Bladerunner…
Not Daryl Hannah. Sean Young. That futuristic '40s Rita Hayworth look. Where'd
you get the bracelet?
My aunt. She used to wear it in the '70s and apparently they're
very rare. It's like that whole gold chain mail effect. Every
time I feel like I'm having an Egyptian moment, a Cleopatra
moment, I put it on. The coat's Christina Perrin. It's raspberry
metallic; I think it's Casablanca for the modern woman,
the modern age. And there's the whole rock'n'roll thing. Anything
gold and metallic brings a lot of energy. So I think every woman
should wear it. The cream color around your neck breaks it up.
Yeah. You don't want to overdo the metallic, 'cause the coat's
burnished, and the snake bracelet, and the chain mail purse.
More than that would be overkill. Well, let's not forget the shoes! They're metallic, too!
Yeah, they are. But the heels are cork. They're Alvin Valley
and they're bronze and metallic. I think a woman really can't
go wrong when she wears gold. Gold is supposed to be the color
of royalty and the goddesses and the Egyptians. Purple, anything
violet, that's kind of like a psychic metaphysical color. Turquoise
means good karma. And I'm just one zany chick. Sometimes I like
a very black, simplistic, Yohji Yamamoto lookkohl eyes,
very minimalist and fitted. But I think when you do color, you
might as well do it all the way. I mean, there are always those
moments where you can put on a great pair of red pumps and wear
something completely black and the pumps and bag say it. But
I was really feeling lively and optimistic, and when that happens,
mix it up. I don't think I've ever seen you wear this much color. Or
this much clothing, 'cause you tend to dress like ...
Like a hooker! No, not like a hooker. But a little Cha Cha.
Well, actually, I'm having a colored tights moment. The tights
are from Daffy's. I think when you're wearing metallic shoes,
they're fantastic with colored tights. And when it's not summertime,
it's a great way to get away with wearing sandals. And bringing
it forward in fashion. Because nobody wears pantyhose, do they?
So what did you think of Diane von Furstenberg's show?
I thought the ethnic flair was interesting. I don't know if
so many women are going to go for the full-on, country kind
of Ukrainian peasant girl look. But I would say the gold trench
coat, the two dresses that weave the purple and violet together,
and the simple black wrap works.
