Launched in 2004, Abaeté (Ah-bye-ah-tay) started as a small resort collection from French Brazilian designer Laura Poretzky. Made up mainly of dresses, the line is understated and feminine, but never froufrou.
“I found this picture of my mother at Castel in Paris in 1971 in which she looked so gorgeous with long blonde locks and her black off-the-shoulder dress. She completely embodies the spirit of Abaeté with her Brazilian sensuality, French femininity and, most of all, her gorgeous smile.”—Laura Poretzky WWD
