Venezuelan aristocrat Carolina Herrera created her first collection in 1981 at the prompting of Diana Vreeland. She expanded into bridal in 1987 and opened her flagship on Madison Avenue in 2000. Herrera founded a diffusion line, CH Carolina Herrera, in 2002, which includes fragrances, menswear, handbags, and shoes. The label is known for timeless ensembles for ladies who lunch and celebs who crave a touch of class. Tweedy skirt-suits, crisp white blouses, fitted jackets, prim cocktail frocks, and embellished evening gowns keep the glamorous label—and designer—at the top of the heap.

“In a word, Carolina Herrera's work is simply chic. She's timeless, classic feminine, and elegant in a way that flatters women throughout their life.”—Sharon Haver Latin Leaders
“It's very attractive, very intelligent, how she's handled her career. It adds to her mystery and allure. She pays attention to the consumer, not to the press.”—Bill Blass The Telegraph
“She has this glamorous intensity. She has always designed for herself and there is pure luxury in every single facet of her. She has a European sensibility, which is one of the reasons Jackie loved her clothes so much.”—André Leon Talley The Telegraph
