Collette Dinnigan launched her eponymous collection of lingerie in 1990, followed by an expansion into slinky dresses and resortwear. In 1995, she presented her ready-to-wear collection in Paris, becoming the first Australian-based designer to swing a prêt-à-porter invitation from the Chambre Syndicale. Best known for her lacy and floral slips and plunging, cocktail-ready dresses, Dinnigan began introducing structured separates and darker palettes in 2007.
