With Barbara Bush, Derek Blasberg, and Cory Kennedy.
Elise Øverland’s rock ‘n roll roots (she was personally selected by Steven Tyler to design costumes for Aerosmith while still a Parsons student) are evident throughout her edgy, womenswear line. Launched in 2006, her aesthetic is a little tough, but still sexy and functional. An aspiring professional skier in her Norwegian youth, Øverland draws inspiration from 70s athletic wear and ballet pieces to soften up her leather-heavy looks.
“My inspiration is myself. How I live my life contributes to what I want to wear, and whatever suits my lifestyle is what comes out. It never changes. It's not like I watch a science-fiction movie and then decide to make science-fiction clothes.”—Elise Øverland VH1 Blog
“I'd say Elise Øverland is advanced. Her silk tie-dye kimono jacket just looks like a rectangle on the hanger.”—Folami Greene New York Magazine
