Australian designer Josh Goot established his own label in 1994. Aesthetically, the brand draws frequent comparisons to Helmut Lang, with its streamlined sporty silhouettes and use of cotton jersey. Also known for color-blocking in rainbow hues, Goot changed it up in fall 2007, presenting an all-black collection. His runway locale is another variable in flux; Goot showed in New York starting in 2006; however, he made the move to London in 2008 for his fall 2009 ready-to-wear collection.
“Simplicity is the key to Josh Goot's clothes. Like Calvin Klein, Helmut Lang and Raf Simons, his is an elegant minimalism: all pared-down designs, blocks of colour and body-skimming shapes.”—Bethan Cole The Independent
“I make the clothes that I want to wear and see others wearing. Anyone with an open mind and a sense of self will feel comfortable in them.”—Josh Goot Refinery 29.com.
