Milan-born Beccaria launched her line of sweet, ruffled cocktail dresses in 1979, sticking to ultrafeminine cuts in soft textures. The label did a brief stint in the couture world, showing in Paris between 1993 and 1995, but ultimately returned to ready-to-wear in Milan. Beccaria turned down the top design post at Chloé in 2001 to nurture her ever-expanding line. Ignoring trends and sticking to her signature flouncy dresses in frothy tiers and floral prints, Beccaria’s designs remain constant in their romantic vision for women. Hollywood A-listers round out her fan base.
“Editorial hype? Not at Luisa Beccaria. She cares only about pleasing her clients, who rely on her for the perfect cocktail dress or a charming printed frock.”—WWD
“Luisa Beccaria doesn't budge from her lyrical, romantic fashion vision. With Prince Charming in mind, Beccaria's archetypal princess floats in and out of gala festivities, swishing and swooshing in yards of sherbet-colored organdies, chiffons and satins, often embellished to a fare-thee-well with ribbons, layers, drapes, scalloped tiers and tucking.”—WWD
