SIRI TOLLERØD

Birthday: August 18, 1988
Hometown: Kristiansand, Norway
Agencies: Trump, Joy Models

The hands down new face of spring 2008 is Tollerød, 19 (above, at Karl Lagerfeld show). Tollerød was ubiquitous, but in the best way: From the first day of Fashion Week in New York (September 5) to the very last in Paris (October 7), she was in 60 shows, including Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Lanvin, Chloé, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Yves Saint Laurent. Of course, there’s a fairy-tale element to her discovery. Three years ago, when she was 16, a scout from Milan’s Joy Models spotted her shopping with friends in a Kristiansand mall and signed her up. She tried modeling for a little while but decided to go home and finish high school before pursuing a career. Last year after graduating, she signed with Trump. “One moment I was home with my family, the next I was shooting Italian Vogue with Steven Klein,” she says. Further proof that 2007 is the year of Siri: She landed the plum DKNY fall campaign, a September spread in V magazine, and shoots in a trifecta of Vogues (German, Italian, British).Tollerød is an international-airport regular now but, judging by her use of emoticons, still a teenager: She listens to Michael Jackson and thinks America’s Next Top Model is silly. Yet she’s also developed opinions about fashion and prefers Paris Fashion Week to the rest. “They know how to put on a good show—it’s like theater. But I like Milan and New York too.”

MASHA TYELNA

Birthday: December 28, 1990
Hometown: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Agency: Women

Every season has its otherworldly creature, and this time it’s Tyelna; with her enormous eyes, she sometimes resembles a beautiful alien. When Italian Vogue shot her for its July issue (along with Agyness Deyn, Sasha Pivovarova, and Tasha Tilberg), her slightly spooky blue eyes were the focus of every shot. Tyelna walked for Prada, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Nina Ricci, DKNY, Vera Wang, Jil Sander, Chloé, and Marc by Marc Jacobs (above) this spring. And at Marc Jacobs’s spectacle, she closed—or opened, in his flipped-around finish-to-start order—the show.

SERAFIMA VAKULENKO

Birthday: November 23, 1987
Hometown: Krasnodar, Russia
Agency: IMG

Call Vakulenko the fragile tower: She’s just over five eleven, with a 23-inch waist. “Serafima strikes the balance between wide-eyed innocence and inherent elegance,” says Philip Lim, who used her in his spring show. “You want to rescue her from the world.” Vakulenko walked her first runway at Giorgio Armani’s spring 2007 Privé, and she was exclusive for Prada in Milan for fall 2007. Her spring shows included Marc Jacobs, Yigal Azrouël, Thakoon, Yves Saint Laurent, Jil Sander (right), and the season’s biggest, Lanvin.

MEGHAN COLLISON

Birthday: February 3, 1989
Hometown: Edmonton, Canada
Agencies: Supreme, Women

With her slight sulk and curtain of inky hair, Collison sometimes appears as the tough girl in a sea of ethereal blondes. “It’s as if she walked out of The Outsiders,” says Rodarte co-designer Laura Mulleavy, who used Collison in the Rodarte show (right) this season. Collison, five eleven, also walked Anna Sui and Peter Som in New York, and Prada in Milan. She’s a newbie, but Steven Meisel—who’s known for his ability to spot a budding superstar—just shot her for the cover of Italian Vogue.

TONI GARRN

Birthday: July 7, 1991
Hometown: Hamburg, Germany
Agencies: Storm, Women

Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa demanded an exclusive on Garrn this season, meaning she wasn’t allowed to walk in any other designer’s show. Why is this significant? Here are some of the other models who have been exclusive for Calvin Klein in the past: Kate Moss and Natalia Vodianova. And look what happened to them.
