So how was the wedding?
We went down to City Hall. The ceremony itself was only five minutes. It was nicer than I thought it was going to be; I thought it was going to be like jury duty.
What are your plans for the rest of the day?
We got Champagne, and we’re going to ride the Staten Island Ferry. It’s such a beautiful day. Tonight we’re having people at the Bushwick Country Club. It’s a total dive bar but sounded right for a wedding party, you know? A lot of people really think it’s going to be at a country club. They’re getting dressed up.
Do your parents like your husband?
They think he’s amazing. He and my dad hang out all the time and exchange power tools and stuff like that.
Does anything feel different now that you’re actually married?
It’s just really the word husband that’s different. I didn’t like the word fiancé, and I’m not sure about husband yet. I keep saying, “This is my boy-um-husband … ”
Are you going on a honeymoon?
We’re going to drive cross-country this summer. Axel is from Paris, and he really hasn’t seen all of the U.S. Texas is somewhere we both want to go. Cowboys and stuff like that. Spending all that time together, I think we’ll really get to know what our marriage is going to be like.
