How long have you been retired?
Oh, since 1989. I took an early retirement from AIG because my back was bothering me. No company is perfect—they all do things to save themselves—but it was a great company while I was there.

Where do you live?
I was born and raised in Staten Island and have lived here all my life. It’s not my Staten Island anymore, but I still love it.

Do you have any hobbies?
Yes, I write poetry. I have two poems in a contest right now. I once won honorable mention for a poem I wrote about the Statue of Liberty.

Can you recite a few lines for me?
“There she stands in the harbor with her head held high / Holding her torch like a star in the sky / All are welcome, your new home, and we’ll give you a hand / All we want in return is your love of our land.”

That’s beautiful!
I can’t believe I wrote it, it’s that good.
