What do you study?
I’m a drawing student at Cooper Union. I’m just finishing my first semester. I was modeling for two years after high school.

Why did you switch to drawing?
Do you want me to be honest with you?

Of course!
So my parents would support me. I’m 19, and I had a $2,100 rent on my shoulders, and I just didn’t want to do it anymore. But a better answer is: The art was really calling to me.

Why wouldn’t your parents give you money when you were modeling?
I come from Westport, Connecticut, where it’s very much routine to go straight to college. And so it was like a matter of principle for my parents: If you’re working and not going to school, then you should pay your own way. It makes sense, but it’s a bitch.
