What have you got there?
A lampshade, from an event I designed. I am rushing to have it reproduced.

Where’s your accent from?
My family’s from Spain, but I was born here. I didn’t speak English until I was 6 or 7.

How old are you now?
Now I am 67, the same age as Mick Jagger and Christopher Walken and Robert De Niro. It’s a good age to be a New Yorker.

I’ll say. Your shirt is unbuttoned pretty low.
People will tell me to put a shirt on, but I feel freer with just two buttons. I have a lot of people who stare at my chest.

I think it’s the tan.
I love the sun. The sun on me is very sexy. When I was growing up, my father was always coming from one tropical place or another, and I would think, Oh my God, I want to grow up to be tan. Now I’m 67, and look at me!
