They’re Armani. I bought them in 1986 and have worn them every winter since. My husband, Stefano, says I look like a sadomasochistic teddy bear when I wear them.
When did you guys get married?
On February 14, in New York, at the city clerk’s office. In Italy, where we live, gay marriage is forbidden. We celebrated with many cocktails at The Four Seasons.
How’d you meet?
We met eleven years ago at a conference in Turin about perceptions of homosexuality in Germany, from the Weimar Republic to the end of the Third Reich. It was love at first sight.
